On the December 15, 2018 episode of 48 Hours, Jim Axelrod interviewed a woman who said she knows where John Vansice was on the morning Jodi was abducted - he was out taking a walk with her. But on page 58 of Beth Bednar's book, "Dead Air", there's the following statement:

"Early Tuesday morning, before police received the call to check on Jodi at the Key Apartments, John Vansice had called another female friend to inform her that he would be unable to meet her for their usual early morning walk.  He offered no explanation."

I notice that apparent discrepancy myself!  Did Vansice go for a walk with his lady friend or did he cancel?

The thing I learned in Dead Air that most struck me was this: Page 18: "One of Jodi's neighbors reported that it was not uncommon to see Vansice sitting in his car in the parking lot outside Jodi's apartment building in the middle of the night".  Whoa.

Oh, and this: Page 126: "Vansice was generally known as a 'hothead', known to 'go purple' with rage.  A friend says Jodi told her that she wanted to break off her friendship with Vansice because of his short fuse, but admitted she was frightened by what he might do if she called it off".

I'm confused by this, too (I'm currently reading Dead Air). I've heard that the female friend changed her story, but I don't know if that's true or not. Hopefully someone else can provide insight on this.

My notes from early on show that Woodford called John after he didn’t show for their walk at 6:00 AM.  He stated he was running late and Woodford noticed he seemed preoccupied.  Also my notes show another thing that differs from the book regarding the Mazda vehicle purchase.  I thought she purchased the vehicle from Skarlis Olds Honda, a car dealership back then and they tool her Honda in on trade.  I know the vehicle was Lessards but the book made it seem like a private transaction if my memory serves me right?

Okay, I'm so glad that someone else has watched the recent 48 Hours and read the book Dead Air.  I too noticed this huge discrepancy and wondered which is the truth?  Because if Vansice didn't go on his usual daily walk on the morning Jodi was abducted, then that is rather important.  Also, in Dead Air there is discussion about Jodi's diary and how she was desiring to relocate to a warmer climate, and possibly do production work in news in Arizona.  Well, who now lives in Arizona?  The same guy that named his boat after her.  Sorry, but you don't just name your boat after someone because they "make you feel good" and no man throws a large birthday party for a woman that he thinks of as just his friend.  I'm going only on my gut feeling here, but I think Mr. Vansice had far deeper feelings for Jodi.  He wanted more.  She didn't.  Something in my gut tells me him. Maybe he had learned of Jodi's desire to leave the area and relocate for a better job.  Her diary made it sound like this was something she was planning on doing in the near future.  Jodi possibly leaving Iowa might've been his trigger.  If Vansice hypothetically uprooted his life and followed Jodi to Arizona, or any other state she would've relocated to for a new bigger market job- and they were just drinking, water skiing, hang around friends that would be obviously strange.  My gut also tells me that Vansice living in Arizona now is some weird homage to her too.

This is so weird... So did he go for a walk or not? This is such an important detail.
