There was one very tantalizing detail in Beth's new book that i havent read about anywhere else...It seems the toilet seat in Jodi's bathroom was left up, indication there had been a man in her apartment very recently, it's speculated, the night before or even more likely perhaps, that morning...I say this because even if Jodi was running late that morning its almost 100% likely she used the bathroom when she got out of bed, like most everyone does, especially after a night of drinking beer....
So was there someone in her apartment that morning? Is this detail a hard fact?
If there was someone in her apartment that morning, or even late the night before, the fact he did not come forward suggests he is involved in the abduction, and that Jodi knew him, probably very well...

I heard this a long time ago and I dont think it means a man left it up. I think she could have thrown up in the toilet or cleaned the toilet. You never know. And someone mentioned about beer cans in the kitchen sink. Well, they could have been there a day or so.

btw my book came in the mail today. 5.11.11

I guess thats possible, but how many people clean the toilet at 4am? I meant she had been drinking the night before because she had been out socializing..According to Ms. Bednar's book(which is very good,i finished reading it yesterday), Jodi liked to drink Bud Lite...The cans in the sink are kind of irrelevant...
I think its odd that the toilet seat was up...I believe she would have gone to the bathroom when she got up that morning, like most people do...I doubt she cleaned the toilet afterward, considering she was late for work and out the door within 20 minutes of Amy's call....

I don't think she would have left her puke on the toilet.

Yes, after thinking about it a bit more, i suppose there are other scenarios why the seat was left up and i guess that might be one of them...Perhaps its a waste of time to delve into such a seemingly irrelevant detail...I just thought it a bit odd...It's even possible that an officer or someone used the bathroom after the fact and left it up, not considering her apt. part of the crime scene...and then it was noted by someone else later on....

Rachel, your original point is well worth thinking about.

Why would a lady have the toilet seat up?
Think about it!

This case is 16 years old. Almost.

There is a creepy male who should have been asked some very tough questions.
It all seems too hard though.

Could the Kinappers or Kidnapper be camped out next to her Apartment. There is a Campground right next to where she lived.

Mooney, I will do you one better........

Last fall I went to MC and did some more searching. One of the last stops was the campgrounds to the west of Jodi's apartment. There I saw and photographed a man pacing back and forth next to his motorcycle drinking something in a brown paper bag stareing at the apartment building where Jodi lived.

Both me and someone who was with me figured that this could have been the one responsible coming back to the scene of the crime reliving what had happen in his head. He was so intent and focused I didn't think he knew we were there. We had parked not to far behind where he was. He was near the rail road tie steps that go down to the river.

I didn't think he noticed us, but when I climbed down the steps to take some pictures the person with me said he walked over to the embankment to check out what I was doing down there below the little cliff.

I got pictues of his license plate number and know who it is. He was tall about 60 and light brown hair. It was not who I thought it was at first, but he sure looked a lot like someone else we talk about.

Returning to the scene of the Crime??? .......maybe

Jodi could have been sick from drinking the night before--maybe too much to drink or a virus.

hmmm i guess that could be true....but when i get sick like that(not often) i dont put my toilet seat up....because i would usually hold the seat...and the rim of the toilet is usually colder, harder and most likely damp from condensation(midwestern summers are usually somewhat humid).....even so, i dont think she got sick that morning...

Yeah i agree.. that toilet seat being up sounds very odd to me especially since Amy called and woke Jodi up and she was rushing for work.. Who knows though, it could've been up from the night before maybe was sick before she went to bed which caused her to be late..
Makes me wonder did the police dust for fingerprints in her apartment as well..

With a raise of hands, how many in here has gotten sick and threw up in the toilet? I know I have and not once have I left the seat up. So my question is this, does anyone know if the place was checked for prints? Where the beer cans ever tested for DNA?

After reading the book and anything else i could find about this case, there was nothing explicitly said about DNA or prints taken from the apt...but there are a precious few things being helb back by LE, claiming it's an active case, so who knows? Also, recently there was talk of "touch DNA" test being used on whatever evidence they have, but im more inclined to think its for the palm print found on the car.....

I have followed this case and board for about 5 years. This is interesting information. I have kind of changed my mind on what I believe occurred. I used to believe a sexual predator obsessed with Jodi grabbed her that morning. Now I think that it is a man close to her. Not necessarily the cornseed guy either. Someone unknown or at least the extent of the relationship was unknown. If there were beer cans in the sink, I would look to Jodi's events two nights before. I get the sense that a man was possibly involved with her, and he had strong feelings for her. They spent time together and he may have wanted it to go further. The relationship was not widely known or at outside of those two, maybe a friends with benefits type thing, or a married man? The beer cans in the sink (if this is true?)the man beating on her door the night before the crime, and the name that someone in the apartment complex overheard as Jodi struggled are the things that lead me down this path of thinking. Corn seed guy was cleared for whatever reason. He would normally be the focus of the investigation. He has not been from what I can tell. What gives there? Strong alibi? Polygraph?

sce;

Supposedly he passed a polygraph test. The man pounding on the door is a key to solving this. Find out who he is and the rest falls like dominos. My two cents.

Yea I agree, what men were involved in her life? I would even go back past to her college days, what romances were in her lifetime? Look for a man that was very broken up over this happening. I think it might even be outside of Mason City, to whatever town she went to college or her hometown. The diary might give clues or her best friend or sister. So much is not public in this case, it makes it very hard to research.
