When I visited Mason City in 1997 or 1998 there were no houses on Birch Drive between Birch Drive and the river near Illinois Avenue. I think only a farm or two on the North Side.

There were a couple near Kentucky avenue west of the tracks and an older house east of the tracks.

I took a couple interesting pictures on my last trip from the south side of the river looking north and did see a strange concrete structure on the north river bank. Maybe I should post those pictures on flickr.

Anyway over the years the housing project took shape and lots of houses popped up on both sides of Birch Drive between Kentucky and Illinois Avenue.

One time I was between the houses and the river on the north side of the river and south side of Birch. There is a wooded area alone the river. I took pictures along the river... and there was a big buck deer who didn't like me being there. I was scared...heard they can do damage to a human when they get upset with ya. He kept telling me to leave his woods. Between him and the pack of 5 dogs that chased me out of a state park on one of my searches......Ya think I would have quite! But still praying she is found and the people responsible caught.

There seems to be an error or a discrepency in the update though:

"His thinking that Jodi’s body was disposed of later in the day, while mine was that she was taken to a location reasonably close to her apartment complex."

Then the update says:

"Jerry believes that Jodi's abductor left the Key Apartments and went directly to this location, less than a mile away."

That would mean that he disposed of her body right away, not later in the day?

I beleive he disposed of her body just minutes after leaving Key.
