I believe Jodi had a man in her life that neither her family nor social friends knew about. I think the unidentified male knocking at her door was that person. I think he was kept out of the loops of her life and had grown tired of it.
While she is at JVS's home watching the birthday party video I believe he came by her apartment, not even knowing she had purchased a new car. So he waits knowing that she will be there eventually. When he sees her arrive home he again knocks on her door and she lets him in. I believe the beer found in the sink was drank by one or both of them. The conversation gets heated; he pressuring her for a more prominent role in her life, and her absolutely refusing and ending the hidden relationship. He leaves her apartment but gets more and more enraged by the minute; deciding to wait for her as he now knows what vehicle is hers. He knows she'll be coming soon and doesn't mind the wait at all. As he approaches her she is terrified, thinking back on the threats he just made as he left her apartment earlier. She screams his name as he overpowers her.
He puts Jodi, stunned, into his vehicle, then retrieves the briefcase that he's been curious about for so long. I believe the 'white' van is just coincidental. He leaves south on Kentucky in the rough looking car that has it's headlights off. I think that the initial blow at her car door had only stunned her; hence the dragging instead of carrying her to his vehicle. Shortly down Kentucky I believe the final and fatal blow is struck. He turns on his headlights and Jodi is never seen again.
I think Jodi knew that her family and friends and co-workers would not approve of the relationship with the mysterious (married?)character. I also believe she knew this man to be the recent stalker, but for whatever reason decided to even withhold his identify to the police. She knew the rage this person was capable of.
I believe that she may have confided to Amy Kuhns the name of this person when she had requested police escorts, and that being the reason why Miss Kuhns was terrified. This too could be the reason for the tight lips on the name she screamed.
I see a chance for one roll reversal here. Maybe HE wanted to end the relationship and Jodi had threatened to inform his wife. He leaves her apartment terrified of her decision and decides to act. The rest of my theory remains the same.
Women, as men do, sometimes want to start-over when a relationship goes wrong. Maybe (probably) she had discussed AZ with JVS and hence the mention in her diary of relocating to AZ. Several things revealed from the diary just struck me as a wish to get away from it all.

I like your ideas, but how do youu explain the interview with Tammy Baker? Tammy Baker said she was enjoying the single life and Tammy Baker (jodi's best friend) didn't know about this man. Why would Amy Kuns know and not Tammy Baker?

Visitor,

You have made an excellent analysis. Jodi's personal life was as complex and interwoven as a Gordian knot.

What you are saying is that Jodi was the victim of a fatal domestic which is far more prevalent than drug mob hits or a sex crimes. But domestic homicides are many times rage killings in which the victim is found at the scene and Jodi has never been found. And JVS proved he is a rage killer when he beat an elderly man to death in Arizona in 2002.

The disposal MO in the Huisentruit case is that of a ritualistic sexual homicide (sex crime) in which the victim's remains are very difficult or impossible to find as in Jodi's case. Many of serial killer Ted Bundy's victims have never been found.

In a mob hit the victim is usually easily found in order to send a message to others who might inform. Dustin Honken deviated from this. His 5 victims were found by the FBI's Recovery Team but only after some sophisticated intelligence work.

Interesting, except did any of her neighbors report hearing a heated argument in the apartment with anyone during the night? We know about the pounding on the door when she was out. But nothing about a heated argument.

Jodi may have had a life of her own, but I believe women discuss the men in their life with their close friends. If she was worried about her safety as she obviously was she would have mentioned his name as a possible suspect to police.

Your ideas hopefully may spark one of her friends to open up with more information than what they have said. I think some of her friends or acquaintances know more than what we know, maybe the police know that information and it hasn't helped, maybe its the piece that solves the puzzle.

I think you are correct on several counts, I believe she did have a male caller that night, but not the one who took her. I think he was there to take her  that night and did not mind waiting all night to do so. Her family and  friends probably would not have accepted the man who took her as husband material.
