No proof of that. And if he did, it was probably someone he hired himself.

What do you mean no proof of that? It is written everywhere.

Re the lie detector test. What I have read is that Cornseed himself called a press conference to announce that he passed the lie detector test. Does anyone know if law enforcement has ever independently verified that? Is there some reputable source (e.g. the Globe Gazette or this website) that has a first hand quote from someone in a legitimate position of authority who says Cornseed passed the test?

I think it very possible Jodi did some drugs recreationally, and she definitely liked to drink her beer, but i dont feel these reasons have anything to do with her abduction.

That is not definitive proof of drug use. Take it from someone who has indulged in both at one time or another, and a strong cup of coffee or two can accomplish in an hour what cocaine can do in a much quicker time frame.

As for her co-workers moving on; what else are they to do? Its been over 16 years and its obvious none have forgotten her. Everyone, eventually, must move on from grief and tragedy or be irreparably broken. Even her family and closest friends have found closure in their grief.

Why would Jodi report late to work get ready and want to go in.Statements said Jodi never called in late unless she was sick which was rare.Jodi must have had a gut feeling and second guess herself.Something I don't understand either before Kimt called the cops it never mentions what was in Jodi's house or what they found.

Hello all! I am new to this web site and obviously new to the forum, however, I just read the "Dead Air" book and got interested in the case. I have heard of Jodi prior to reading the book but didn't know all of the details. I am no detective, nor do I claim to even think of one, but IMO I believe this was somewhat of a random crime. I don't believe this disappearance is related to a stalker....it just doesn't seem to fit. I think if it was some sort of stalker issue, we would have heard a lot more about this person leading up to Jodi's disappearance. She seems like the type of girl to not like some sort of weirdo get away with harassing her. I also don't believe the friend John is involved, either. Why would he have had to wait outside in a car for her to leave work? Could he have simply killed her when she was at his house? He could have called and said he needed to speak to her, drive to her house and taken care of her there. Why risk neighbors, or anyone for that matter seeing you abduct her in the middle of a parking complex? Makes no sense to me. I somewhat believe that this was a crime of opportunity. Maybe someone was getting high in that apartment complex, maybe someone was sleeping in their car, and just happened to see a girl all alone at her car at a rather odd time of the morning.
I pray this case one day gets solved. I find it amazing that a person can simply just disappear.....
Thanks for letting me speak my opinions and I hope to hear from some of you who are more familiar with the case! Maybe some new talk about it will lead somewhere...

If John killed Jodi in his home, he lived upstairs in an  apartment with a lot of outdoor stairs to climb. He would be a sitting duck for neighbors to see him leaving his home with someone slung over his shoulder. He had downstairs neighbors. He had to wait outside for her to leave for work because he could not get inside. The parking lot was very dark and it was 4:30 in the morning. Perfect.

Jodi's friend was a known drinker and that same friend might also have been furious that Jodi was dating another older man, one with lots more money than the first friend had. This website reported previously that Jodi never went to first friend's apartment that night, probably standing first friend up.  I think she was beginning to realize that the relationship wasn't healthy. I theorize that the new friend, "Mr. Deep Pockets," was at the golf tournament Jodi played in the day before her abduction and they (Jodi and Deep Pockets) spent time together at her apartment.  The first friend was probably the one who pounded on Jodi's door that evening.  I think first friend then returned to the parking lot, saw Deep Pockets leave, then waited all night, probably drinking the whole time, until Jodi came out to go to work. First friend probably didn't expect to wait that long, because Jodi should have left home at least a couple hours earlier. After waiting longer than expected, completely furious and out of control, first friend might have hit her too hard, mortally wounding her, then possibly dumped her body in a nearby farm pond.  I keep hoping that, because of the drought, the ponds will have lost enough water that Jodi will finally be found.

Why didn't anyone see anything that night?   I don't know, but it was just before dawn, when most people are asleep. I also think you can go unnoticed sitting in a parking lot at night.  Plus, the person who killed Jodi just got lucky.  Plain lucky.

I agree with you that it wasn't premeditated.  My opinion ... it was a crime of jealousy, alcohol, and rage.

I remember seeing Cornseed at The OP in Mason City after Jodi disappeared. He drank a lot and always seemed tobe on the make. I think Garland's scenario is very plausible although I have my suspicions about someone else that lived in the Key Apartments at the same time Jodi was there. ok
