Where is Jodie?

Where could Jodi be?

Can she still be found after fourteen years?

I don't know the geography around Mason City at all. Are there caves, sink holes or old mines?
What type of construction work was there in 1995?
Was there any large concrete pours being done?

We know the direction the speeding car headed from the crime scene. How far was he prepared to drive with Jodi on board? She was already very late for work and workmates were wondering. The abductor wasn't to know it would be a while yet before the alarm would be raised. LE could have been called at any time.

I know it is 'needles in haystacks stuff' but this case badly needs Jodi.

This case screams for more information to be either released to the public by LE or allow someone to see what they have. After all this time I would venture to guess this is no longer a priority for them and this web-site has more interested people who with a little more information can perhaps come up with something that may assist in (at this point) finding out who did it. With luck, find out what happened to her. But we need something solid.

Has LE every asked the FBI for a profile to be done on this case. Have they ever considered the FBI giving one last look into the case for help.

It seems LE at this point is counting on some miracle to drop into their lap to solve this case.

If no one accepts the drug theory, I seriously doubt a stalker would wait hours to grab her with the possibility of people waking up to go to work. That would leave someone she knew and with her life in danger, I don't think she would scream out a name unless it was the person doing this to her. Almost like a desperation move so hopefully she could be found quickly. But the police refuse to release that name, what they are doing with it is any ones guess. It certainly hasn't helped them find Jodi keeping it a secret. If theyr'e worried their case may be compromised, at this point, I would take the risk.

Good thoughts vinny.

Why weren't LE able to progess the case when it seems they had the first name of the perpetrator?
It's not as if that name is known only to the perpetrator either because the witnesses know it too.
You can't tell me those witnesses have never ever repeated the name they heard to someone else.
We all know how hard it is to keep a secret.:)

Has an independent cold case squad looked over this case? If they haven't why haven't they?
Fresh eyes and new ideas are needed.

When I have watched shows like the Cold Case Files I have noted that is isn't always the brilliance of the fresh detectives alone that solved the case.
Often it was simply the cold case guys saw something the original detectives were blind to for some reason. The solution was there all the time and often it was so simple one wondered how it was missed.

Can Jodi's next of kin ask for the case to be reviewed by different detectives to the original ones?

Maybe it's not meant to be solved, maybe someone is being protected from prosecution.

I know for a FACT that there is one LE officer
that looks at Jodi's picture/leads that come into
MCPD each day! I am also 99.9% sure in Jodi's
case that NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!!! Almost every
LE officer will tell you that they all have some
case that they cant let rest, and I am sure that
Jodi's case bothers a lot of LE folks. I know we
all would like to know what LE is holding back,
they do that in EVERY case!! They often use that
info to catch the suspect in lies, ect.

I'm sure your right, it just seems the gaps, the obvious questions, the name, The surrounding state issue. Just because Jodi was from MN doesn't mean the car or truck came from MN or IA, WI is almost as close so is IL. why 10 years later the police only checked MN and IA.

After over 14 years it's time for cold case detectives to work up the file or start to release something they have been holding back to jog some memories. They obviouly aren't close to an arrest, it may take something dramtic to bring people forward. With their approach, the only thing that's changing is the calendar.

Nice work everyone and especially the observation on the alleged vehicle (van). Something else to toss into the mix is the fact that whatever vehicle was involved the police weren't called to Jodi's apartment until just after 7 a.m. Probably by the time they interviewed anyone it was hours later.

The abduction is believed to have happened at 4:30 a.m. and police arrived at 7:30, that's three hours. Traveling 50 miles per hour, the vehicle could have been 150 miles away!!! Then, by the time Randy Linderman got off work and heard about the abduction went to the police it was probably that night or next day. Could be as much as 24 hours before any alerts went out to other agencies. The vehicle, driver, abductor and victim could be on the east coast. Even the 3 hours is telling. We're assuming the abductor drove a short distance and disposed of Jodi. Could be, wouldn't want to take a chance on being stopped. There are endless possibilities, don't get trapped into a preconceived idea of distance traveled.

In an earlier post, I do agree that the jogger didn't see any other vehicle, in fact the parking lot was "quiet" when she ran by.

Oh, the jogger was also paced on several occasions. I asked her if she resembled Jodi at all when she was running and she said; "probably". Was she mistaken for Jodi on some occasions? Could be.

I am glad you folks are putting the forum to good use and hopefully something will gel to the top and we can all solve this with the help of LE.

Sixties;

I would imagine that everyone at Jodi's place of employment had to be aware she asked for police protection the weeks or few months before the abduction. To wait two and a half hours before calling police is unbelievable.

If Amy is to be taken at face value and stated she had no idea it could have been that bad after knowing the fear Jodi had in the recent past and not call police until 7:AM is amazing to me, don't they have commercial breaks in Iowa?

It seems everything worked against Jodi that day. She is late for work the abductor(s) waited, she screams no one does anything who heard it. Job waits hours before calling police. Sad, very sad.

there was a homicide near austin\albert lea quite a few years ago, the body in that case was found in a well on a abandoned property, I just read the book fade to black this morning and all the psychics focus on water, didn't musgrove have pictures loaded on flickr of a couple abandoned properties?

I think it's very clear the situation was over the heads of everyone in the MC PD. I think Vinny is right and someone is being protected. I've been to the apartment and thought if I was a killer, a person who wanted to abduct someone what would I do after a struggle? Did anyone see me? What would be the fastest way out of town? Maybe the person who took her didn't need to worry about a quick get away?

I have had a few other theories too, but may be way off. what if Jodi was at cornseeds place and saw something? being a reporter journalist she was probably naturally snoopy. Please anyone reading this DO Not take any offense to this. I am also this type of person, cops and investigators are naturally this way also. anyway she see's something in his apartment that either conects him to drugs or Billy's murder. so she swipes it, corn seed notices it's missing and alerts the other individual involved and he is instructed to take care of the situation. ok.... so he goes to her apartment and raps on the door and says "jodi I know your in there answer your door" she doesn't answer and he leaves, Jodi later returns to her apt, cornseed dude has had some time to think :he really cares about her: he goes to her apt and this time she's home. he enters they talk he can't find what he's looking for or doesn't get the chance to look because it's in her purse. so he sits in his car and waits and waits, she doesn't exit at 3am and more time goes by but he still has not seen her leave. he knows she is there. so he waits more 4:30 am she stumbles out of her building and she see's him she knows then that he knows she has what he wants. she's frightened she loses the shoes to pick up  speed and drops some items, she gets to her car and tries to unlock it and he grabs her hand so hard it bends the key. he knocks her back and she hits the back of her head, knocks her out. he drags her to his car and takes her to the house he had just purchased. he has a hard time doing the persons dirty work who he's working for SO he leaves her alive, he goes to his apt cleans up calls his walking date and cancels and then goes to a store and runs into a aquatince and tells the person prematurly that jodi is missing... prematurly because he thought the LE had probably already been called. he then goes back to the scene after a few hours, but at this time jodi is still alive. this is just a theory and if you want to know more you can email me. thanks I don't know what pulled me to this forum or even this case. I am not psychic and I make NO clams to be. I just know the last week I have felt very strong and felt pulled to this case and my mind is turning even in my sleep and for some reason I can't stop it:( I truely hope that someone somewhere can solve this crime and give Jodi's family peace and a final good bye to Jodi.

let me add this I meant whatever he was looking for she had in her brief case along with her notebooks. Hence the reason none of those items have been recovered.

In the book dead air, cornseed dude knew of a body shop or mechanic shop with illegal activities, yes?...perhaps jodi got to be too nosey, (the investigator type), around that area and became a threat to their operation. Just an avenue.  meth was very popular back then and it seemed like everyone was experimenting with it or knew someone who was. (honken, for example).

on or around the time frame of jodi's disappearance, a friend of mine said she and another guy were driving at night on one of the northern highways near MC,  the police had a white van pulled over with guns drawn. She said she remembers they were motioned by the police to go around the scene and recalls being freaked out about it.

Is there a way of looking back at any dispatch records of this police activity to see if perhaps it could be a lead? like who was driving the van, the outcome of the traffic stop, anything suspicious, why the guns.
