I have to agree that the actions and the inactions of the Mason City Police Department has made them a primary suspect.  At this point, the new administration needs to stand up, admit to the corruption, complicity, and degree of involvement the department had in this crime at the time.  For their sake and their future, a mea culpa and a fresh start would be the best thing that could happen.  For the case, who knows what illumination could come of it? And for the family and friends, the agonizing grief of not knowing could be abated.  The MCPD has been a hindrance, not a help in this case, and this is where the outside forces of the law need to intervene.  If there is any new ground to cover, I believe it is the dirt on the MCPD.
