Part of recent lead we have been following includes a golf trophy presumably from the Mason City Country Club that Jodi played in the day (before) she disappeared. Please see the following sketch (you can click for a larger version) below.
We are hoping someone played in that event that day and perhaps remembers, or actually won a trophy when they were handed out. We’re hoping it looked similar to this sketch.
If you have any information about the golf tournament, images, if you remember the trophy, or in fact have an image of the trophy, please contact us here. You may remain anonymous.
It is very important that we gather information about that golf tournament and hopefully, insight of what the trophies given out that day looked like.
Thanks for your help.

If you recognize this trophy or have seen one similar, please contact us.

I’m assuming that someone has checked the local newspapers files to see if they have any coverage or photographs in storage? I’m intrigued about this, anxious to see what the tie-in is
It would be nice if you were to explain the significance of this trophy.
Look for a post in the coming days laying out this lead. It is very interesting.
I had thought it rained that day and the tournament was postponed? I may be wrong. Also, why not contact the company that made it, I am sure they have some documentation of it. There aren’t too many trophy shops in Mason City. For such a big event, you would of thought that there would be pictures of it. And don’t they usually engrave the winners name on it, so they may have took it back to the company that made it to do just that. How many people could of possibly been there? And, you can count out the work staff, since they weren’t in the tournament. So, that should leave a fairly short list since I am sure the golfers had to either be members of the country club or fill out some kind of form so that a roster could be made. And I am sure there was some kind of fee to play, The Mason City country club was pretty exclusive and it really shouldn’t have taken more than 22 years to have looked into this. I remember that they would print the results in the Globe Gazette, but maybe they decided not to that year.
the tourney was cut short by rain – club rules / tourney rules differ by event / club on what the rain policy is. They may have given out trophies based on finished rounds, not at all or to projected winners.
I believe the tourney was held at a couple of different courses – and most if not all of the “country club” tourneys are open to the general public – in fact there is a small group of elite players that do nothing but travel to these local tourneys all summer long. It”s how Tom Lehman and Tim Heron got onto the PGA tour but that is a different topic.
but yes, there should be records (hopefully the club has them) of who was entered, who attended the dinner, where the trophies came from and who got them.
Wouldn’t the local newspaper have run a story about the event and who won what?
not if it was a chamber event or something like that – sounds like it was more of a who’s who / chamber outing hobnob with the movers and shakers deal as opposed to a serious tournament.
Greg / mods – has anyone gone on a walk through the businesses of Mason City to see if they can spot one? most likely if someone has one they’d have it up for display in their office. Another thought would be to check the local good will / 2nd hand stores – since someone probably donated theirs by now…
John Bremen uni golf – I find his possible connection of interest.
