Find Jodi Huisentruit
Case File 7

Iowa man exchanged letters with Jodi before disappearance

By Gary Peterson · On March 18, 2013

Findjodi.com has made a concerted effort over the years to bring forward information that might be connected to the abduction of Jodi Huisentruit in 1995. One piece of information that was given to Findjodi.com offers a completely different look at Jodi’s last few weeks.

The information comes in the form of personal letters from a person who are choosing not to reveal at this point, but we can tell you he was considerably older than Jodi when the letters were exchanged.

In June of 1995, Jodi was exchanging letters with a man who lived in Des Moines, IA. The first letter we received was dated June 8, 1995.

Jodi, great to talk with your last evening and great to receive your belated birthday wish. However you embarrass me with such a beautiful card when the best I do is to scribble you a note on my work paper. Thank God I at least recognize my shortcoming by identifying it as Cheap Cards by (Author’s Name).

I am somewhat delighted to know that you were offended by my references to beauty. Had I thought that you thought that way about yourself there is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t have made the comments. Consequently, I will reserve the right and continue to believe as I do. However, if you should ever get a fat head thinking that way yourself I’ll puncture it with my magic pin or pen or both. (Smile) not to worry!!!

On a more serious note, don’t get down on yourself or become overly concerned with where you are at in your career. Good things do not come to those who wait, they come to those who work for it, and that you are doing. Getting our priorities to be the priorities of others is a real challenge we all share. The best we can do is be thankful for what we have and stay the course in order someday to look back and recognize it was worth it. You must believe as I believe it will happen. God Loves You and so does (name).

At the top of the page there is a note:

We’ve got to stop meeting like this!!!

There is more writing on the margin of the page:

Let me know when you get your car. Although I’ve never heard of a car warming gift as in house warming gift, I’ll think of something.

There are at least three more letters from the unidentified author to Jodi. We plan to post those letters on the site very soon so please check back.

I don’t suppose Jodi’s replies to this man are available? Is this man considered a person of interest in her case?

In 1995 there was a car dealer in Des Moines, IA with the name of “Cheap Cars”. Was this a joke or a play on words intended?

If this man was considerably older at the time of correspondence with Jodi, do you know if he is still living? Was Jodi’s car a gift from this older man or another person?

The words used by the writer and the structure of sentences indicate to me that he/she is both obsessed and trying to curry favour with Jodi. Could the writer be a POI and are the police aware of the letters?
