Find Jodi Huisentruit
Missing Person Cases 5

Just one tip

By Caroline Lowe · On March 19, 2016

Working on the FindJodi team, we are always waiting for the one tip that will finally end the almost 21-year search for Jodi Huisentruit. We hope someone with information about Jodi’s abduction will contact the Mason City Police Department or our team and help solve the case.

The power of keeping a cold case in the public eye was just reinforced with the solving of an unidentified human remains case I included in a recent investigative report for KSBY TV, the NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo, CA. The day after my report aired in late December, I heard from a viewer who recognized one of “John Does”
in the report as a man she knew as a cook named Phil Bishop, who worked at her local Moose club.

Pamela Coffey then shared the information and photos with a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Coroner’s office detective. The Sheriff’s office announced this week it had confirmed Pamela’s information, found Phil’s real name was Phillip Ashoff and notified his family. I hope some day another person like Pamela will see a report on Jodi and be that tipster who provides answers for the Huisentruit family and the Mason City community.

Praying for Jodi’s family and loved ones today. I can only imagine how interminable this wait has been; and how long it continues to be. Praying for the right tip to be brought forward and for all the hidden things to be revealed.

Did police consider the possibility of an eccentric loner having constructed a basement prison for Jodi in his isolated house? I’m thinking of, say, a handyman who never has anyone visit him. Bear in mind that Josef Fritzl of Austria kept his daughter captive for 24 years in a concealed corridor part of the basement area of his house. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritzl_case

I was thinking the exact same thing. For some reason I don’t think she’s dead. If it was a rapist or serial killer or psychopath killer, I think there would have been more evidence left or at least they should have been caught by now. These criminals have low control and are impulsive. They also like to gloat and will make mistakes. The person who did this either has no friends to gloat to, lives quietly or brought Jodi out of state.

The person or persons that took her had a plan and I am sure they knew her schedule. Either a colleague paid to get her removed or a misguided fan took her. I vote for the latter which is why I think she is still alive. She’s being kept as a trophy.

These people fit into society fine and are very private people with a very social front facing demeanour. I know the Fritzl case quite well as I used to live an hour away from that area of Austria. He was pretty normal, but he kept his private life super private.

I am sure the person(s) who did this are still in the state and not far from her apartment …maybe 5-10 mile radius.

Over the years I have thought About Jodi and her story. There is something special about it and cannot get it out of my head. I hope her family knows there are people like me out there that, even though we didn’t know her, think about her always. My prayers are with her & family and I do hope there is a resolution for them one way or the other. Peace, love, & prayers go out to the family.
