Find Jodi Huisentruit
Tribute 3

The Sadness: by John Shine

By Josh Benson @wflajosh · On December 20, 2017

John Shine was the General Manager of KIMT-TV when Jodi disappeared. In numerous conversations with John over the years, we’ve discussed and shared our theories, the events of that day, how to move forward and an overall sense of frustration that this case hasn’t been resolved.

John has continued to this day to be one of the biggest supporters of our efforts here at FindJodi.com. He has checked in, offered his assistance and kept us engaged when things slow down – much like he has this time around.

The following poem was written by John Shine. It’s a piece that offers the feelings of the continued struggle to find Jodi Huisentruit, albeit, it offers some hope as well.

As we all slow down and prepare to celebrate the holidays with our families – we don’t forget there is a monster out there who has ruined not only the holidays, but a big part of the lives for Jodi’s family and friends. It is a sadness we hope to help mend.

Thanks, John and to all those who continue the fight to find Jodi.

The Sadness

We lost her in the early morning
of June 27, 1995.
She was like the sunshine
smiling, laughing, and caring.

Jodi lived for her work and wanted
to move on, to a bigger city,
a larger television market.

Someone took her away from us
on that early morning Iowa day.
We searched, and searched,
to no avail.

The memory will never go away.
And sometimes a little light opens up a lead,
but they seem to go dark too soon.

In one’s life you wish for certain things…
I wish for the end of this story
to solve the mystery and the sadness
of it all.

A very nice tribute, John. I never knew Jodi, of course, but knowing you for a few dozens years, I know how much this weighed on you.
As we have discussed more than once, I have no doubt that someone has information that could lead to a break in this case. That person may not realize that the smallest tidbit they have, added to other information, could be all that’s needed.
I would encourage those who have talked with people over the years about Jodi’s disappearance to revisit their conversations. Was anything ever said that may have caused the hairs to stand up on the back of your neck? Is there anything that you keep remembering about a conversation or action, perhaps when someone’s guard may have been down…
If anything comes to mind, don’t wait until tomorrow, jot it down. Compare notes with others who may remember something.
A lot of colder cases have been resolved. Sometimes, because someone’s guilt could no longer be contained. Sometimes, because people close to the case remembered that one detail that never did seem right.

    Dear Arthur,
It was you. There was no police conspiracy, no drug king pin trying to quite Jodi, IT WAS YOU! She didn’t love you like that, and you wanted to change her mind…..or at the very least keep her from loving someone else. Your temper got the best of you (much like it did in that grocery store in Tempe, right?). The very least you could do is tell the family where her remains are buried. You’re not getting any younger, and they have a right to know. It MIGHT be the only thing that keeps you from going straight to HELL when you finally meet your demise. You know how to work in total secrecy…do the right thing.
