Wow that is very interesting...where is this creek at? You said you reported it...to whom did you report it to? Did you just see the briefcase, or did you pick it up or open it? Did you leave it in the creek? I wonder if there would be anything left of it after all these years....

Why did your friend's dad throw it away? Was the briefcase filthy or otherwise unhealthy to allow a kid to keep?

This is incredible and may be one of the biggest tips to move this investigation forward.

It does make me think back to when Honken and Johnson threw the woman they killed's purse in the Winnebago River near the town of Fertile.

I hope you can go look and search where you talked about. Just be careful and if you find any evidence be sure to call police and dont comprimise it.

Good luck, we are all rooting for you. Also send a few prayers your way.

Are you sure it was an ID and not her drivers license?

it seem a briefcase would possibly float, so it could have been thrown in some distance upstream.

would jodi have needed an id badge for her work?

Isn't Jodi's driver's license on the wall in the police station? I believe Detective Stearns keeps it there?

I dont find it odd if Jodi had an ID badge inside her briefcase, whether she needed it or not. Im sure she kept it in there in case she needed to cover an event away from the news station. Maybe it was a rule that all news employees have them on the job, no matter where they were.
I guess all the notes and files that Jodi presumedly kept in her briefcase were taken out.(if this is related to Jodi's case)...Another indication she may have known too much about something or someone....

I do find it odd that someone would throw away the badge after it being found in the stream..If that was me i think i would have reported finding it...

The "ID" was likely a press pass so she could enter events or pass police and fire lines to report the news. Every journalist has one, or should. Most of the time they include an ID photo. I, too, am surprised that anyone would throw away the ID. I'm not sure what happened to the briefcase, though. Was it thrown away, too, or just left behind?

In light of current allegations I would suggest reporting any evidence to an outside party like the FBI.

Did women carry briefcases in those days? Did Jodi carry one to work everyday?

Jodi carried a small brief case or portfolio in which she kept her note books and computer diskettes. North Kentucky Avenue carries traffic both day and night and her assailants were easily seen. The fact that the brief case and it’s contents were not found at the crime scene would seem to indicate that her assailants consider the information in it important enough for then to take the brief case.

I am pretty sure Jodi carried a briefcase or portfolio to her job every day...not sure where i read or heard this...I do know it was mentioned that her notes and files, which she carried with her every day, were missing...I will go back thru the Dead Air book later after work, and try to find out the source of that....

The missing briefcase doesn't fit into a "known by Jodi" or "unknown by Jodi" stalker theory.
It seems to imply she had information of interest to the abductor.
Didn't I read somewhere that her calls for help didn't sound like ones of terror, but rather of surprise? She wasn't expecting that person? The name she called out to stop was similar to "jon", "ron", "don" etc.?

I find it completely absurd that someone would give a badge (ID) to a friends dad and that he would just throw it away, any thought on that one?

I dont find it all that strange that "the kid" would give the badge and/or briefcase to an adult...Perhaps "the kid" was told to hand them over to the adult?

What i do find very hard to understand is why that adult would throw the ID badge away. No matter who it belonged to.
Perhaps this adult thought it was trash thrown out by the owner of the badge and gave very little thought to it...
I wonder, had the badge been given to the friend's mother, would it have been thrown away so quickly? Not sure why i wonder that, but a woman might stop to think of the possibilities, more aware of the inherent dangers of being young and female.
Is it possible that the badge was NOT thrown out, and "the kid" just told it was? Did he see it go in the trashcan?
That could possibly be the case, unless informed otherwise by the kid. Maybe the friend's father DID report the badge to an authority. We have no idea.

maybe the whole story is a hoax. there would need be much collaboration to indicate otherwise. the findjodi administrators are staying quiet so far.

I have talked to the tipster and gathered all the necessary information. We're working to find out the credibility of the lead - as we always do. So we'll post accordingly when we find out more. We appreciate the dialogue, but with any lead, it's important not to jump to conclusions because we all know how that can play out!

Thanks again.

Glad the administrators are looking into it! I have a lot of faith in them.
