Wow. He was quoted in some articles about Jodi's disappearance. Apparently suicide. Just reinforces that you NEVER know what's going on in someone's head or what they're capable of doing. Sad, sad, sad.

This Don Harman thing is fishy. I am from KC and his suicide was a shock to us all and didn't make alot of sense. It's probably prematurely connecting dots, but there are ALOT of them pointing to something brewing here. Thoughts?

There are other rumors floating around about why he committed suicide, including marital problems and depression issues. I'm going to reserve judgement, but stay tuned to the reputable news reports. Emphasis on the word reputable. But what a tragedy for his family. My heart goes out to them.

Yes, I lived in MC at this time. Jody was believed to be abducted after calling the station to say she was running late4-5am, somewhere between her apt and car she went missing. Not 100% on this but Don was a morning guy also I think he would have been at work that morning. He was heart broken from what I Remember.

Yes it would be nice to know if he worked that morning, and swiftly put this rumor to rest.

I myself was super intrigued by the Harman suicide, but after reading about his clinical deporession and his friends and family trying to help him, it became just an unfortunate coincidence.

The energy and effort in this case, if anyone still cares, is getting the Cornseed Salesman to admit to more than he knows. Sadly, with incompetence of the MCPD and the lack of national focus, the Cornseed salesman will take this murder to his grave,

It makes you wonder...Billy Pruin was considered a suicide right away as well...the list of deaths keeps growing...What is real and what isn't??

I think law enforcement has known for a while who their guy is, that they screwed up forensically by not being aggressive in their focus on Cornseed guy, and they're hoping he gets in trouble down the line and cops a plea, which includes admitting culpability in Jodi's disappearance.

I agree with Simon. I think the police know exactly who kidnapped and murdered Jodi and that they also know they completely botched the investigation in those critical hours immediately after she disappeared.

Unfortunately, a lot of people get away with murder. I'm a big fan of old time Hollywood and two unsolved murders spring to mind -- William Desmond Taylor and the Black Dahlia. Both murders, especially the Taylor murder, are so old that the murderers are long dead, without ever being identified. It happens.

I just hope it works out differently in this case. Jodi deserves to have her murderer brought to justice.

I just had to reply and say im also a big fan of old time Hollywood and have read everything out there pertaining to the WD Taylor and Black Dahlia murder mysteries. I read "A Cast of Killers" in the 80's about the Taylor case and was convinced for a long time that MMM's mother was the killer and paid off LA District Attornies for years. Unfortunately i recently read that that theory/scenario has been debunked by more recent research....O well...

Hey Rach, where did you read that about MMM mother? I just read Vidor's book and since then I've been convinced she did it. Sorry to be off topic, folks! It'll be brief :)

I read about C.Shelby in Vidor's book(is it the same one you read? He wrote Cast of KIllers) but a few months ago i was reading online somewhere about famous unsolved murders...I think the theory was debunked by researchers looking into the case over the past 20 years or so; they dont put much stock in Vidor's research or conclusions. Dont remember why exactly, but up until i read that i was very much convinced King Vidor had solved it. Im sorry i cant remember which website at the moment. I will try to and get back to you on that if i find it again.

Thanks Rach! This one fascinates me. And yes, King Vidor wrote A Cast of Killers.

yesterday was officially declared by the mayor, Don Harman Day in Kansas city Missouri. The wake in its entirety can be seen on the Fox 4 web site. He was big in the community and will be sorely missed.

My belief is that no one has been arrested as a suspect because the evidence was not there at the time. There is a lot of focus in the book "Dead Air" on jealousies and frustrated relationships as a potential motive, but it should be considered that such trials and tribulations in relationships occur in society and likely 99.9% of the time do not lead to murder.
