I know this case has been in circulation for almost sixteen years, but I used to have horses on Quince Ave near 280th Street, by the railroad crossing. Almost directly across the street from 280th Street is a service road, nearly inaccessible, to old rock quarries that have since filled with water. I used to ride my horses in that area and the quarries are quite deep - thirty feet has been an estimation. It is easy to find on Google maps with a satellite photo. I was curious if serious searching had been conducted there.

Here is the link to the google map of the place of reference. I'd love some feedback.

I believe this is this is the same spot that I visited with Jerry. This is definitely in the radius that would permit a quick disposal from Kentucky Avenue. It's secluded and at the time of Jodi's disappearance was accessible on a work road on the north side of the little lake. Easy to get into and the assailant could go about his job of hiding her body in relative privacy. This theory was brought to the forum last fall.

I must have missed the fact that it was the same place. Was there a follow up this past winter?

While listening to the first Cubanarama call, I went on a map search of gravel pits northwest of Mason City that were in the 16-18 mile range and found a couple within a mile apart. Here is the location of one of them, the second one is just east of this one.
1558-1574 440th St @43.400511,-93.20685
Does anyone know if either of these locations were ever checked? These would be in the approximate location that Gale St. John may have been referring to in the show.

I have always believed this place should be searched again.i grew up in the area and know it very well, used to go back there for years with dirt bikes and jeeps.the morning of the abduction my parents who lived on plymouth road which leads up to the area, heard a very loud vehicle.i believe the vehicle could have possibly torn the muffler off after getting out of there as it was a very rough road.the area is not all that far from the key apartments so it would have made a quick disposal possible.

The clay pits are where a lot of my friends and I think she is. That or under some building that was built back then, were the storage units on Illinois there yet?

In response to your question about the storage units.no they were not built at that time.keep thinking and maybe we can connect the dots and figure this out!

I agree with you that the areas you mentioned should be searched again. I wonder if a Findar unit, or similar device, could be used at those locations? Should the Evans Preserve area also be looked at as a possible place to hide someone?

I've always thought Evans Preserve should be checked. (probably has) Similar to other locations mentioned above its extremely close to the Key Apts. This is actually the closest location to the Key Apts that is secluded and really not that many people ever went back there, I'm from MC. There's a small service road to get back in there a little ways and then plenty of walking paths after that all leading to swamp land on the east side of it, west of the tracks you can go into another entire area of paths and seclusion. Probably pretty difficult to scour every square inch of this place with all the trees I imagine.

Was that old barn that stood by itself on the S side of 12th St (E of Illinois about a mile) searched?
also that old pit that’s now called Briarstone Lake? Back then that area was pretty barren if memory serves.
i always had bad feelings around both....
Also the Forrest City Lumberyard - that Officer Om got the tip on - and said she’d driven too? I never saw any info on that being searched.
and more recently the Honken murder dump sites. Were those searched completely? Or just until they found what they were immediately looking for?
Billy Pruin’s farm too.
